India vs England 4th Test Day 4 LIVE Score: Shubman Gill's team eyes quick wickets to rescue Test match against England

England have bulldozed India in response to their 358-run total. Openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley started the innings in true Bazball style, immediately putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. From there, the attack kept building. Joe Root went on to smash 150, surpassing Ricky Ponting‘s tally and now sits just behind the great Sachin Tendulkar in terms of Test runs.

Former England spinner Monty Panesar questioned host captain Ben Stokes’ approach of bowling yorkers to injured Rishabh Pant , when he came to bat again on day two of the fourth Test at Old Trafford.

Pant, who was retired hurt on 37 after being hit on the right toe by Chris Woakes in the final session of the opening day, came out to bat again despite the reports of a fracture on his right foot. He looked in obvious discomfort as he hobbled to complete his singles.

'Was It Ethical...': Ex-England Spinner Questions Ben Stokes' Approach Of Bowling Yorkers To Injured Rishabh Pant

India vice-captain received a roaring welcome from the crowd and earned a lot of praise from former cricketers, including Panesar, but the veteran spinner criticised Stokes for targeting Pant’s injured foot (front) with yorkers when he was already struggling with the pain.

Tim David ended his century drought in T20s and slammed his maiden century in the shortest format i the third T20I of the five-match series against West Indies on Friday (July 26). Coming out to bat at number five, David smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 37 balls as the visitors chased down the target of 215 in just 15.1 overs. Batting with a strike rate of 275.68, David smashed 11 sixes and six fours in his power-packed knock.

“Well, I think he’s being very brave, and it’s massively risky because you don’t want him to get injured further and he has a fractured toe. So, he’s done brilliant heroics from him, and he’s shown great bravery and shown how strong of a character he is. And it’s probably similar to when Anil Kumble had a fractured jawline, what he did then.

“But, I don’t know, was it ethical for Ben Stokes to bowl so many yorkers at Pant when he already had a broken toe? it’s questionable,” Panesar told IANS.Australia clinched the T20I series with two matches still left to be played. WI captain Shai Hope slammed a century and remained unbeaten on 102 off 57 balls to take his team to a total of 214. Brandon King also played his part and scored 62 off 36 balls.

The total didn’t prove to be enough and the Australian batsmen punished the home team bowlers. The next two T20Is will be played on July 26 and 28. Australia whitewashed WI 2-0 in the Test series.

Pant added 17 runs to his last night’s total and scored a gritty 54 to rake India’s first innings total to 358. In reply, half-centuries from Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley guided England to 225/2 in 46 overs at stumps, trailing India by 133 runs.

David created history during his match-winning innings as he became the fastest T20I centurion for Australia. He breached the three-figure mark off the 37th ball he faced. He missed out on breaking Rohit’s record by just three balls.

Rohit holds the record for scoring the fastest T20I century for a full-member nation against a full-member nation team. He shares the top spot with South Africa’s David Miller. Both batters took only 35 balls to slam their respective centuries in 2017.

David was batting on 91 off 31 balls and needed nine runs off three balls to break Rohit and Miller’s record. He only managed to score seven runs off the next five balls. He reached his century off 37 balls. But David does hold the record for being the quickest T20I centurion for Australia.
